A 21-year-old Warwick man was remanded in custody after denying kidnapping and unlawfully assaulting Derika Young last Thursday in Devonshire.

Kevin Douglas pleaded not guilty to abducting and assaulting Ms Young yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Crown counsel Shakira Dill told the court that Douglas had unlawfully detained Ms Young against her will, causing her bodily harm when assaulting her.

Ms Dill said Douglas, who was represented by duty counsel Michelle St. Jane, admitted violently resisting arrest and damaging a bathroom door.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves denied bail after considering the charges and Douglas' conviction record.
