Alleged murderer in Supreme Court

The man accused of murdering mother-of-three Chena Danette Trott pleaded not guilty at yesterday's Supreme Court arraignment session.

George (Messy) McDonald Liburd, 30, of Pembroke, denied killing Ms Trott, 32, at the Esso TigerMarket on Crawl Hill in Hamilton Parish, on August 9.

He will reappear at next month's arraignment session.

Also appearing before Chief Justice Austin Ward yesterday was a Policeman who was bailed after pleading not guilty to five sexual offences, including buggery, against a child.

The 35-year-old from Smith's, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also denies committing an assault causing actual bodily harm, touching a young person in his trust, inviting a young person in his trust to touch him and serious sexual assault.

He will will appear at next month's session for mention.

New Yorkers Amina S. Edwards, 27, and Pamela F. Content, 26, pleaded not guilty to importing 27,000 grams of cannabis with an estimated street value of $1.3 million on September 3.

The pair, both of Brooklyn, also deny possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

They were kept in custody and will reappear for mention next month.

Kirk Roberts 40, of West Side Road, Sandys, will appear for arraignment again next month to face charges of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, handling a controlled drug and possession of drug equipment.

Doylette Duclos, of Summit View Drive, Bailey's Bay, pleaded not guilty to stealing $56,824 from her then employer, DBH Holdings Ltd ,between July and October last year and will appear again next month.

Quinton Eugene Wade, 38, of Elliott Street, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine on July 23 and will also reappear at next month's arraignment session.

He also denied possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Kofi Omar Dill, 23, Eastgate Lane, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent on October 10 this year. He was bailed until next month's arraignment session.

A trial date was given to three men accused of robbing the Flatt's Gas Station of more than $3,000.

Alvin Jamel Terricho Hassell, 22, Colsey Osworth Gift, 45, of Parsons Road, Pembroke and Shawn Albert Smith, 26, St. Augustine Road, Pembroke, face charges of conspiracy to commit a robbery, aggravated robbery and unlawful wounding on April 11, 2001.

Their trial is set for April 3, 2003. Smith and Gift were bailed while Hassell was kept in custody.

The re-trial of Derrick Duval Binns will go ahead on February 17 next year. His original trial was aborted because a Police witness was overseas and was not available to testify.

Binns, 33, of Cricket Lane, Sandys, pleaded not guilty to burglary and wounding with intent to disfigure, was remanded in custody until the trial.

Two teens face trial on March 31, next year accused of stabbed a 16-year-old girl in Hamilton on December 30 last year.

Shauntiah Derekia Rawlins, 16, of Loyal Hill Devonshire, and Latroy Gaynelle Santucci, 17, of Tea Room Hill, Warwick, are charged with intent to do grievous bodily harm, unlawful wounding and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife on December 30.

Rawlins was bailed but Santucci was held in custody for breach of bail conditions.

The trial of Nikia Jayvon Burchall will begin today. Burchall, 26, of Middle Town Lane, Pembroke pleaded not guilty to robbing a man of jewellery worth $2,925 on March 14.

Three Pembroke men accused of assaulting a prison officer in a New Year's Eve attack will face trial on April 14.

Shannon Tuzo, 28, of Marsh Lane, Shaki Eugene Crockwell, 23, of Happy Valley Road and Raymond Winslow Burgess, 21, of Hurst Crescent, Pembroke were charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

The alleged attack occurred during the early hours of New Year's Day outside Club 40 night club on Front Street.

The retrial for two men accused of dragging a British tourist face first along the road as they tried to grab her handbag while they rode a moped, will go ahead on March 17, next year.

Kenneth Kevin Boyles, 24, from Cambridge Road, Sandys and Dean Leslie Eve, 32, of Cedar Park Road, Devonshire, denied robbery on in April 17 last year in their September trial which was aborted after legal arguments.

A 39-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons will reappear for mention next month in arraignments after pleading guilty to sexual assault on September 15, 1994.

And a 31-year-old Pembroke man, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, will face trial on November 25 for serious sexual assault.
