American Airlines to resume night flights

American Airlines will resume night flights later this month as Bermuda International Airport finally returns to pre-Fabian schedules.

Flight 1444, which arrives at 9.35 p.m., will begin again on October 21 by which time the Causeway will once again be reopened after nightfall.

Planes remain at the Airport overnight before returning to New York at 7.30 a.m.

And Airport general manager James Howes believes the return of the popular night flight will help get the Airport back up to normal passenger levels after the post-Fabian 40 percent slump.

"It is always a very popular flight and often is full," said Mr. Howes. "It is good for catching connections and its return is a welcome boost for the Airport. We seem to be rebounding now and by mid-November we can expect year-on-year figures to be back up to normal levels."

US Airways recently reversed their decision to axe their Boston flight early.

It will now fly on October 26, November 1, November 7, November 8, November 9, November 26, and November 30. And the New York LaGuardia flight to Bermuda will run on November 26 and November 29 with the return flight on November 27 and Sunday, November 30.
