Assessment team begins survey of construction at Berkeley
Government has appointed an independent company to carry out an assessment of building work on the trouble-hit Berkeley construction site.
Canadian firm Halsall Associates started the survey on the new secondary school on Tuesday.
A Government statement released yesterday said a team of building-envelope specialists and sub-consultants for the mechanical and electrical work arrived on the Island on Monday.
The team is expected to finish in about a week.
?It is expected that the results of this independent assessment of the current facility will be invaluable for record purposes, and enable the (Works Ministry) team and the construction managers to prepare tighter work packages for ?lump sum? bidding of the corrective work and new work required.?
The assessment will establish what work has been completed, what remedial work is needed and what has yet to be constructed, the statement said.
