Bad weather set to continue

Bermuda is likely to experience more bad weather associated with Sub-Tropical Storm Gustav through tomorrow, the Bermuda Weather Service said last night.

While Gustav is not a potential threat to the Island, unsettled weather caused by clouds drawn away from Gustav will bring high winds, rain and possible thunderstorms over the next two days.

Gustav was 475 nautical miles west of Bermuda at 32.2 degrees north and 74.8 degrees west with 40 knot winds gusting to 50 knots. The storm, near Wilmington, North Carolina, was moving at ten knots in a north-northwesterly direction.

Forecasters said Gustav is expected to pass north-northwest of the Island tomorrow.

Today the Island will see a high of 85 degrees Fahrenheit, but it will be mostly cloudy, with a few sunny breaks, scattered showers and a chance of thunder.

The closest Gustav is expected to reach is 395 nautical miles to the north-northwest of the Island at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The storm is expected to be packing winds of around 55 knots, although Bermuda should be enjoying improved conditions by then.
