BA?s flight increase pushed at conference

The new team for the Bermuda Department of Tourism?s London office was on hand this week to welcome hundreds of participants at this year?s World Tourism Organisation conference in London.

Led by Sales Manager for the UK/Europe market, Thomas MacDonald, the team included Business Development Manager Chris Joell-Deshields and sales support, Neitra Dill.

They were joined by hoteliers and other Bermuda private sector members at what has become one of the largest travel trade shows in Europe.

This year the Department of Tourism showed off not only its new office in London, but the increase in air service with British Airways. As of March next year British Airways will increase its service from London to Bermuda from five days a week to seven days a week.

Mr. MacDonald said: ?This is exciting news for Bermuda when a legacy airline partner like British Airways decides to increase its service to Bermuda by 40 percent, this is big news.?

He added that any destination would feel fortunate to have a major airline invest its resources in the way British Airways plan to do for Bermuda.

At the Travel Mart, the team also took the opportunity to introduce ?Compliments of Bermuda? ? a travel companion air credit promotion.

The promotion offers air ticket credit of ?150 towards the cost of the companion?s airfare.

The Bermuda Alliance for Tourism (BAT) and Hotel Association also attended the trade show while golf, scuba and other excursion providers were also present.
