Police are hunting a hit-and-run jeep driver who struck a bike in Sandys ? then sped away without leaving accident details.

The 16-year-old girl on the bike said she slowed for a vehicle making a left turn on Somerset Road when she was struck by the white Mitsubishi jeep.

Police said the driver got out to help. He suggested the teenager ride to Port Royal gas station and he would follow and give details.

But when the 16-year-old reached the gas station, the jeep just sped away. The bike received back end damage in the collision, which happened at about 8.35 a.m. on Tuesday.
