A cyclist underwent surgery yesterday evening after being in a collision with a truck.He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after breaking his left leg and right wrist, and suffering facial injuries.The incident occurred on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish. Police said the cyclist had tried to make a right turn on to Radnor Road when he collided with a truck travelling in a westerly direction.

Cycle collides with truck

A cyclist underwent surgery yesterday evening after being in a collision with a truck.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after breaking his left leg and right wrist, and suffering facial injuries.

The incident occurred on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish. Police said the cyclist had tried to make a right turn on to Radnor Road when he collided with a truck travelling in a westerly direction.

The rental cycle was extensively damaged, while the truck's front windscreen and front bumper were damaged.

Tourist's waist pouch stolen

A thief riding a bike snatched a tourist's waist pouch as she walked along Rosemont Avenue on Wednesday evening.

Police said the 58-year-old woman was walking through Pembroke with her husband and daughter when the incident occurred at about 8.30 p.m.

The bag contained credit cards and other personal items.

Weapons amnesty to end

The weapons amnesty ends at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Police yesterday encouraged people with weapons to hand them in before the deadline.

Anyone caught with prohibited weapons after the amnesty can expect to be prosecuted.
