A 35-year-old Bermuda woman was arrested in the Tampa, Florida area on suspicion of identity theft this week.

Malika Battersbee faces three counts of ID theft which is a felony in the state of Florida.

She is currently free on $3,000 bond.

The Hernando County Criminal Court in Florida would not release any further information about Ms Battersbee?s arrest over the telephone except to say that her next court appearance will be on February 6.

She will have to hire her own attorney for that proceeding because a judge ruled she was not indigent and does not qualify for a public defender.
