Berth boom to continue?
Bermuda's boat berth building boom looks set to continue after an application to construct fixed and floating docks to create a 53 berth marina at the PW's Waterfront development was submitted to the Development Applications Board last week.
William Cox, President of Waterloo Properties which is developing the site, said yesterday that the company had already received approval in principle for a 70 berth dock, and this application was for final approval.
He said that spaces at the new dock will be offered to tenants of the new development that is planned for the waterfront which currently has approval in principle, and remaining spaces will then be offered to the public.
Mr. Cox explained that the dock will be the Island's first full service marina with the combined services of a new gas station and Miles supermarket so boaters can have their boat "gassed and iced" and ready and waiting at the dock it they so desire.
"It will be a one stop marine solution," said Mr. Cox, although he said they will not offer mechanical service.
The marina will be built to the south and east of the property and is the latest of several major marine construction projects.
Recent dock developments include the six figure 100 plus berth dock at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and the nearly completed 60 plus berth dock at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club.
