BHA presents scholarship, honours
An overseas scholarship has been awarded and a college student hospitality award presented by the Bermuda Hotel Association.
And Bermudian professional footballer Shaun Goater has been honoured for his contributions to promoting the Island through sport during his career of more than 15 years in the top divisions of the English Football League.
At the annual meeting of the Bermuda Hotel Association, DeShae Sampson-Smith was awarded the Bermuda Hotel Association Overseas Hospitality Scholarship and Candise-Lynn Smith-Fox named as the BHA Bermuda College Hospitality Award winner.
The presentations were made by BHA chairman Michael Winfield, chief executive officer John Harvey, president Frank Stocek and Kelli-Ann Gibbons-Smith, human resource director at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel and BHA Selection Committee Chairperson.
Honouring Mr. Goater, who retired from the professional game at the end last season having helped Southend United win promotion to the English Championship Division, the BHA said it was presenting a plaque to recognise ?his outstanding contribution as a soccer ambassador for Bermuda and a positive inspiration for all young Bermudians?.
