An habitual thief who netted $10,000 worth of bike parts in a daring night-time raid has been jailed for 12 months.

In Magistrates? Court on Wednesday, Santonjee Devent Joell, 29, admitted breaking into Wheels Cycles some time between May 16 and 17, after cutting through a perimeter fence.

The following day, Joell was found with housebreaking instruments including a flashlight and a bag of tools.

Joell, of no fixed abode, is known to Police for previous offences, including drug possession and theft.

He was given a 12-month sentence for the charge of breaking and entering and an additional six months, to be served concurrently for possession of the tools.
