BPSU eye Patrice Dill as hospital CEO
Bermuda Public Services Union (BPSU) general secretary Ed Ball has called on new Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) chairman Jonathan Brewin to do the right thing and appoint Patrice Dill as CEO.
Mr. Ball said Ms Dill had been selected by a committee but the appointment had been in limbo after Health Minister Nelson Bascome brought in management consultants Kurron to do a review of Bermuda Hospitals Board management.
It started at the end of February and was set to last for 60 days at most, the Health Minister was quoted as saying.
He told The Royal Gazette in early March: “The Board has not given me any official notification of who the candidate is.”
But yesterday Mr. Ball said Mr. Bascome's earlier excuse that the board at that time was temporary did not wash as a reason for not making the appointment. He said the old board still had powers until the new one was appointed, which happened in March.
And he said he had lobbied new BHB chairman to confirm Mrs. Dill. He said: “Hopefully the new board chairman will do the right thing.”
Mr. Brewin would not comment yesterday.
