Brazil-bound cargo ship diverted to Bermuda
A cargo ship en route to Brazil diverted to Bermuda yesterday afternoon after suffering engine problems.
The 600-foot Columbus Canada was travelling from Newark, New Jersey to Santos, Brazil when she encountered engine trouble.
She diverted to Bermuda and spent last night at anchor at Murray's Anchorage where crew members worked on the problem. A Harbour Radio spokesman said depending on how successful the repairs were, the ship may move to Pennos Wharf in St. George's some time today.
Thieves steal cash in Sandys house raid
About $200 in cash was stolen from a Railway Trail, Sandys parish residence on Friday.
The complainant told Police the thief broke into her home some time between 7 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. that day. Inquiries into the incident are underway.
•Police are advising people living in western parishes to be aware of strangers around their homes. This is due to a rise in break-ins in this area.
