Breaking News: BWC: Police stations pose no threat to staff health

Police have been told that while Hamilton Police Station has “obvious water damage and active growth on some surfaces”, the mould problem does not pose “innate concerns for the safety and health” of staff working there.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright made the remarks after receiving a preliminary report from Bermuda Water Consultants (BWC), after concerns were raised by overseas consultants who conducted tests at the station last week.

Mr. Wright told staff that he will share the formal report once it is available, and commented: “In the meantime, it is certainly relieving to know that the conditions at the stations are safe for our staff to continue working without any further anxiety that may have been caused this weekend.”

He added that Somerset station, which was also a topic of concern, is in a good condition.
