The deadline for compliance with a controversial land licence law has been extended to December, Housing Minister David Burch announced in the Senate this morning.
The move comes in the wake of a statement from Junior Housing Minister Walter Roban in the House of Assembly last Friday
Designed to restrict the amount of land owned by foreigners, the Act dictates, among other things, that a $1,375 land licence is required if a non-Bermudian spouse provides financial assistance for the acquisition of land or property.
Originally the deadline for compliance was Tuesday.
