Breaking News: Government names CEO of Bermuda Hospitality Institute
Premier Ewart Brown this afternoon announced the CEO of the Bermuda Hospitality Institute.
Karla Lacey is to take the helm of the training institute, which aims to encourage more Bermudians to enter the hospitality industry.
Ms Lacey is a former assistant vice president of corporate communications at BTC and senior vice president at Butterfield Bank.
Her background also includes feature writing, culinary arts and education.
Dr. Brown also announced the BHI’s board of directors at this afternoon’s press conference.
The members are Allan Trew, E. Michael Jones, Miriam Johnston, Nelda Simons, Greg Wilson, Carlita O’Brien and Kevin Monkman.
Dr. Brown said: “We must encourage Bermudians to see and understand the difference between service and servitude.
“Bermuda is known around the world for our friendly people and phenomenal service. This is a legacy the BHI and its partners will strengthen.”
