Breaking News: Premier stands by son

Premier Ewart Brown is standing by his son who has been arrested in Los Angeles in a Police sting after a year-long investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a patient.

Dr. Kevin Antario Brown, 37, was arrested by detectives after an 18-year-old female reported to Police in June 2007 that she was inappropriately touched during a medical examination by Dr. Brown.

Detectives conducted an undercover operation where a female undercover operator posing as a patient was also inappropriately touched during a medical exam, according to a press statement by LA Police.

Detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Sex Crime Unit, resulting in the $50,000 warrant being issued and multiple felony and misdemeanor charges being filed.

The charges against Dr. Brown relate to sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation by a physician. Dr. Brown was taken into custody without incident by the Fugitive Warrant Section on Tuesday morning.

Dr. Brown, a general practitioner medical doctor, had been practicing medicine at the Crenshaw Expo Medical Center, 3631 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims or witnesses and are appealing for more witnesses.

This morning the Premier, via his press secretary, said: “I have been in touch with him and he denies the charges and we trust that he will be exonerated.”
