A Prison officer today admitted possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply to an inmate when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
Luvoney Smith, 39, of Ord Road in Warwick, was caught with the drugs in his hollowed out shoe while driving in to work at Westgate Correctional Facility on September 3.
Magistrate Juan Wolffe sentenced him to six months imprisonment for two counts of drug possession and more jail time could be handed out on Wednesday when the Magistrate will hear legal arguments from both the prosecutor, Cindy Clarke, and defence lawyer Marc Daniels and determine if the increased penalty zone should merit a heavier sentence.
