A 33-year-old US tourist involved in a bike crash yesterday has died — the 13th death on Bermuda’s roads this year.

Bethany Heinrichs, of Baltimore, Maryland, was involved in crash just before 2pm yesterday when she appeared to lose control of her bike and hit a kerb on Pender Road, Sandys.

A Police spokesman said: “She sustained serious chest and abdominal injuries and was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. She was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8.45pm on Tuesday.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Lesa Stovell at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
