British Airways resumes service

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3: British Airways flights to and from Bermuda are running again — although minor delays are expected.

Flights have been cancelled since Wednesday when the runway at Gatwick Airport was shut down due to severe weather conditions in the UK.

Approximately 100 Bermuda residents are believed to have been stranded in the UK as a result.

The airport officially re-opened this morning.

The British Airways flight is expected to leave Gatwick an hour later than usual this afternoon, arriving in Bermuda at 7.15pm.

The aircraft will then depart at 9pm — an hour later than normal. It is expected to arrive in London at 7.34am tomorrow.

Passengers are advised to check with British Airways before travelling to make sure their flight is departing as scheduled.

Gatwick Airport has advised passengers to expect delays and cancellations and say it is likely to take a few days before flight schedules return to normal.

According to the airport’s website, train services to and from the airport continue to be limited and road networks are likely to remain severely affected by the snowy weather.

People can follow Gatwick Airport on Twitter for the latest updates. Travellers to and from Bermuda can check the BA website at www.britishairways.com for more information.
