Butler promises employment centres
Social Rehabilitiation Minister Dale Butler is planning on setting up monthly employment centres in churches to help disaffected youth in his Warwick North East seat.
He said gangs of youth had been moving about the area and had settled on Marl Lane as a hang-out ¿ to the annoyance of neighbours who complain of a blocked road.
Mr. Butler added: "They say they need activity and employment. We have been attempting to register them and after the election there is the possibility of having employment centres in our churches and halls on a monthly basis.
"I am hoping that rather than having them shifted from one area to another we can find meaningful activity with community organisations and by ensuring they are employed."
The Department of Labour and Training are finding out what skills those youngsters had said Mr. Butler who added that the Mirrors Programme which also aims to help wayward youth get back on the right track via mentoring is to run for another two years.
