The Cavello Bay ferry stop will close on Monday for construction, Government announced yesterday.

However a free mini-bus service has been set up to help residents with transportation throughout the weeks of construction.

The Cavello Bay stop is the first in a series of West End ferry docks which will temporarily close for upgrades. Director of Marine and Ports Barry Coupland said the construction, allowing for safer berthing of the new catamaran ferries, is expected to last several weeks.

"We are advising residents in the area who use that ferry stop to use the next closest ferry stop, the Watford Bridge ferry stop," he said yesterday.

The free mini bus has two routes and will stop to pick up passengers anywhere along those routes.

The upgrades include repairs to the existing dock, provision for docking all current classes of ferry boats, and an improved shelter area.
