CedarBridge drive fills three containers for Katrina relief

CedarBridge Academy received an overwhelming response to their collection drive for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Student Government President, Mario Swainson, was amazed at how charitable Bermudians were.

Initially they aimed to fill one container but Mr. Swainson said they now had enough for three containers.

He also said that more students volunteered to help with the collections and packing of the containers than he expected.

The collection drive started on September 12 and was expected to finish on September 22, but Mr. Swainson said they finished earlier because the response was so great.

He told The Royal Gazette that 90 percent of the donations were clothes, while books and toiletries made up the remaining ten percent.

The container will be sent to the Relief International Organisation in Louisiana.

Mr. Swainson wanted to thank everyone who participated, the public and the companies that made donations.
