Plans to build a new multi-storey housing development to replace the under-threat Canadian hotel were mentioned in the Budget statement yesterday.
Finance Minister Eugene Cox said the development in Union Street would house up to 75 men in a two-block complex.
He said: "Bermuda Housing Corporation's capital expenditure in 2002-03 will address the increasing need to provide adequate and affordable housing for the growing number of single men with low incomes."
