Cruise line swells visits
CRUISE line Holland America has more than doubled its number of Bermuda cruises for 2010, announcing yesterday that its previous schedule of ten visits has been upped to 24.
Holland America's ship Veendam will call on both Hamilton and St. George's from New York City beginning April 25, 2010.
"It has been increasingly difficult in this part of the world to arrange itineraries for cruise ships small enough to visit Hamilton and St. George's," Premier and Tourism Minister Dr. Ewart Brown said of the change in itinerary. "The Veendam at 720 feet is a perfect fit."
The Veendam, which carries a capacity of 1,300 guests, is also expected for a full season of visits in 2011.
The ship will spend two days each in Hamilton and St. George's before returning to Manhattan.
