Daylight Saving Time begins on March 11

Residents in Bermuda and the United States will be setting their clocks forward two weeks earlier this year as part of the Daylight Saving Time (DST).

Previously, the DST for Bermuda and the United States started on the first Sunday in April- when clocks went forward an hour- and ended on the last Sunday in October, when they would fall back.

This year, clocks will go forward an hour on the second Sunday in March and end of the first Sunday in November. Last year the Bermuda House of Assembly passed the Time Zone Bill, which will keep Bermuda in line with the change in the United States, which changed DST to reduce their energy bills.

As the first year of the new DST, Bermudians and Americans will set their clocks one hour ahead on Sunday, March 11. A Cabinet spokesman said the times differences have been extended to ensure that Bermuda is in keeping with the US? decision to increase DST.
