Drink driver banned

A man pulled over by the Police after he drove his car down the middle of the road with no lights on has been fined and banned.

Magistrates? Court heard on Friday how officers stopped Charles Burgess on Reid Street, Pembroke at 1 a.m. on October 21 after initially spotting his grey Peugeot car on Front Street.

Crown Counsel Cindy Clarke said 65-year-old Burgess? eyes were glazed, and he admitted that he had ?had a few? drinks.

A test later revealed that the defendant, who is from Court Street, Pembroke, had 149 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $1,000 and banned him from driving for 12 months.
