A man who smashed his car into a telephone pole went to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for a ?a laceration his scalp? Police said.

The white Toyota Corolla spun into the pole yesterday at 6 a.m. on Middle Road in Paget, near the junction with Manse Road .

The car was ?extensively damaged? from the crash, a Police spokesman said.

Police believe the driver, who was heading in a westerly direction, lost control of the car, causing it to spin into the pole on the other side of the road.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, to phone 295-0011.

?Six road traffic collisions where drivers were hurt and 30 collisions where the vehicles were damaged took place at the weekend.

Police also report that there were four break-ins, all in the west end, and one person was arrested for drunk driving they said.
