Family Centre?s Cup Match ribbon drive underway

The Family Centre has kicked off its two-week Annual Cup Match Ribbon Sale in the Main Banking Hall of Capital G Limited.

Under the sponsorship of Capital G, ribbons in the navy and light blue colours of St. George?s and the red and blue colours of Somerset will be available at 40 stations Island wide until August 2.

Proceeds from the sale of the ribbons will go towards The Family Centre which works with high risk families and children in order to strengthen them and the community.

?It gives the public an opportunity to support the teams and the organisation,? said The Family Centre chairman Don Mackenzie.

This is one of the charity?s most important fundraising events of the year, added executive director Martha Dismont.

?Whilst we all have fun with this campaign, the underlying message must be related back to our core values and mission which is to ensure that families have the skills they need to become successful,? she said.

Many families in Bermuda face unpleasant realities, she added: ?Many face deprivation, social and emotional challenges and abuse.

?While you are at Cup Match enjoying your snow cones, or spending that dollar on another throw of the dice remember you could make such a difference if you would support the efforts of The Family Centre.

?Wear your colours proudly.?

Capital G has been the sponsor of The Family Centre?s Tag Day initiatives since 2001.
