Front Street to be closed tonight for cycle race

Several Hamilton roads will be closed tonight for the Grand Prix Pedal Cycle Race between 6.30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

They are Front Street between Burnaby and Court Street, Burnaby Street between Reid Street and Front Street, Reid Street between Court Street and Burnaby Street and Court Street between Reid Street and Front Street and between Church Street and Reid Street for southbound traffic only.

There will be no parking along the route from 5.30 p.m. until 10 p.m. All vehicles should be removed before 5.30 p.m.

Parking will also be banned from the southern side of Front Street between Queen Street and Point Pleasant Road except for horse and carriages, from the northern side of Front Street between Queen Street and Point Pleasant Road except for taxis and along the southern side of Front Street east between Court Street and Fagin?s Alley, except for taxis.

For shoppers visiting Front Street stores there will be free parking in Number One Shed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with access through the western door of Number One Shed.

Traffic entering the city from Pitts Bay Road is advised to detour up Bermudiana Road except taxis, horse and carriages and vehicles wishing to gain access to Number One Shed car park or Albuoy?s Point.
