Golf course fire

A fire at St. George?s Golf Course last night damaged vegetation and trees near the third hole on the course.

A member of the public reported the fire around 8.30 p.m. and five fire vehicles, two from the Bermuda Fire Service and three from the St. George?s Fire Brigade were despatched to deal with the blaze.

An area of brush, vegetation and trees measuring 50ft by 25ft was affected by the flames.

Lt. Dana Lovell of Bermuda Fire Service said three hose reels were used and 2,000 gallons of water to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not known last night, but a fuller investigation is to be carried out this morning.
