Have recent violent crimes impacted your views on Bermuda?

Minister of Tourism Dr. Ewart Brown urged Bermuda to pull together and end violent crime and ensure the tourism industry is not negatively impacted.

Early Sunday morning 18-year-old Jason Lightbourne was murdered on Ord Road. He was the fifth shooting victim on the Island in the past 90 days.

Earlier Sunday morning, at approximately 2:40 a.m. another young man, believed to be Stefan Burgess, was ?chopped? on Frog Lane and is still in Intensive Care. Dr. Brown urged Bermuda to come together after these violent attacks.

?Like most Bermudians I am deeply concerned about this growing violence in our country,? he said.

?Our visitors do not come to Bermuda to find this and they will stop coming if it continues.

?Every Bermudian, whether close to the violence or not, must take the position that this a challenge for all of us.

?If Bermuda is not safe for Bermudians, it is not safe for our visitors.

?We must work together to eradicate this behaviour before it destroys the Island we love.?

Yesterday, , asked visitors if they were surprised by the recent outburst of violence and if it negatively impacted their views of the Island.
