Horton moves to ease fears
Minister of Public Safety Randy Horton last night reassured travellers that everything possible is being done to ensure the safety of planes leaving Bermuda.
Speaking as Police in the UK continued to investigate an alleged plot to bomb up to ten planes heading from London to the US, he said: ?Obviously we are concerned to learn about the situation. As a result we are taking absolutely all necessary precautions in regards to security here at our airport.
?It?s a situation that may cause some delay and it may cause some irritation to some members of the public but we ask that people are understanding and appreciative of the fact that right now we need to be very careful.?
He praised Bermuda International Airport general manager Jim Howes for providing ?great leadership? in response to a state of heightened alert in the US which has demanded ramped-up security on US-bound flights. He said there had been ?great cooperation? from all affected airlines.
