Hotel plans approved

Developer Gilbert Lopes has been given permission to build a new development on the site of the former Loughlands guest house on South Shore Road in Paget.

The proposed 100-room hotel was given the seal of approval by the Development Applications Board which also approved the building of 42 condominiums and a new tennis pavilion.

The development is located on 79 South Road. Mr. Lopes filed for permission to build this development in February.

The DAB also reserves final approval for the details relating to the design and external appearance of the building and the parking and landscaping of the site.

Recently, Mr. Lopes was denied permission to build a 54-unit condo development on Cedar Avenue.

Mr. Lopes is also the man behind the 17-unit residential building next to the Olympic Club on Dundonald Street.
