A man who allegedly impersonated politician and Dunkley's Dairy chief executive officer Michael Dunkley appeared in court on eight indictable counts of fraud.

Maxwell Sinclair Roberts, 37, of no fixed abode, was not required to enter a plea yesterday as the matter will be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrates' court heard that Roberts allegedly committed the offences on November 24.

He was charged with causing a Capital G bank teller to give him two bank drafts worth $79,783.49, both drafts payable to Michael Dunkley, then fraudulently uttering them at the Bank of Butterfield.

He induced bank teller, Ren?e Smith, and to cash one cheques of $39.891.74 and the other $39.891.75, he cashed with another Capital G teller.

He was also charged with falsely obtaining a drivers licence in the name of Mr. Dunkley, who is deputy leader of the United Bermuda Party and shadow Heath and Social Services Minister.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman appeared for the Crown and Roberts was un-represented, but said his lawyer was Llewellyn Penniston.

Magistrate William Francis remanded him in custody for mention on December 12.
