Injured cyclist moved to Lahey Clinic
A 27-year-old motorcyclist critically hurt in a traffic accident Sunday night is now at the Lahey Clinic just outside Boston receiving treatment for a variety of injuries.
An air ambulance delivered the Pembroke man to the US in the wee hours of the morning Monday.
Only a few hours earlier, at around 9 p.m., the patient lost control of his Honda Scoopy on Crow Lane in Pembroke near the junction of Corkscrew Hill.
He was apparently trying to make a right turn on his way out of Hamilton, according to Police.
The impact of the crash was so forceful the man is understood to have first collided with a traffic light pole then struck the pillar of a nearby bus shelter.
Roads were cordoned off so paramedics could attend to the victim and Police could begin their investigation.
The most troubling of the rider's injuries was sustained to his left arm which created nerve damage near the shoulder, according to a local hospital official.
He is also suffering from face abrasions, a head injury and a potential injury to one of his arteries.
Police continue to look into the accident and they ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Police Traffic Enforcement Unit.
