Island gets new Cultural Affairs Coordinator
An educator for 20 years has been appointed the new Cultural Affairs Coordinator for the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
Louise Tannock taught history and social studies and also worked at the Department of Education as department head responsible for teacher performance, curriculum implementation and monitoring.
In a statement from the department, Mrs. Tannock was applauded for her work with teachers and staff from the Smithsonian Institute in developing, promoting and documenting Bermuda?s culture.
In her efforts to promote cross-cultural learning and exchanges, she has led educational tours to Cuba, Philadelphia and St. Kitts and Nevis.
As a member of the Bermuda National Trust?s Education Programme, Mrs. Tannock also created BNT?s summer camp programme for school children.
She assumed her duties as Cultural Affairs Coordinator in July and and reports to the Senior Cultural Affairs Officer Heather Whalen.
In her post, Mrs. Tannock will be responsible for coordinating and implementing cultural programmes and activities including the annual Heritage Month activities and the Bermuda Day Parade; developing educational programmes and coordinating, developing and implementing the Fall Into Spring programme and working with cultural and community groups to develop cultural projects.
