Islanders asked to link hands across Hamilton

A newly revived anti-racism organisation is planning a launch event involving people linking hands across the City of Hamilton.

CURB ? Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda ? hopes the symbolic ?Hands Across Bermuda? event on September 18 will highlight what it stands for.

CURB was originally formed in 1998 before fading away, but was revived earlier this year, backed by Government funding. It is in the process of planning a number of future campaigns.

?This will be people saying that they want to do something and feel strongly,? said Lynne Winfield of CURB at a meeting last night. ?It will be a physical show that we are here.?

It is hoped that schools across the Island will get involved in the event.

CURB also plans to have representatives at today?s anti-racism rally in the centre of Hamilton, and will be asking for those interested in helping out to pass on their contact details.
