Kids' Film Festival deadline is extended

THE deadline for entries to be on the judging panel for the BIFF Kids' Film Festival has been extended from today until next Wednesday.

The festival, to run from October 17-19, will screen 28 children's films representing 15 countries, including seven films made by Bermuda-based youngsters at the festival's BIFF Film Academy summer film production camps.

Children between the ages of six and 12, who are interested in sitting on the jury, are invited to submit a 100-250-word entry detailing why they liked any film they have seen any time in the last two years.

"We will read all the entries, and will select the winners based on the film reviews that have been sent to us," said Aideen Ratteray Pryse (pictured) , director of BIFF Kids.

"After we will announce the winners, the two three-person juries will watch the films for free during the festival in October, and select the winning film in both the feature and short film categories."

Submissions must be received by today and should include the child's age and contact information. Typed or handwritten entries should be sent to BIFF, PO Box HM 2963, Hamilton, HM MX, or be submitted by e-mail to infobiff.bm.

The opening night film, Nocturna, will be screened at Little Theatre on Friday, October 17 at 6.30 p.m. It will be preceded by a Halloween costume parade at 6.15 p.m., with prizes awarded for the best costumes.

The festival then moves to the Tradewinds Auditorium at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute for the weekend, with films beginning at 10.30 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for the BIFF Kids Film Festival will be available for purchase on Friday, October 3 online at www.bdatix.bm, via phone at 441-232-2255 or at Transact, Internet Lane in Hamilton and Picture Perfect, Heron Bay Plaza, Southampton.
