Man beaten in baseball bat attack

A 39-year-old Hamilton parish man was rushed to hospital on Wednesday morning after being attacked and robbed by baseball bat-wielding thugs on Glebe Road.Police report that officers spoke to the man at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital who told them he had taken $200 out of his wallet to count when he was struck in the back.

He fell to the ground and was beaten about the head and body by three or four individuals with baseball bats. They took the cash and made good their escape, possibly by car.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for facial injuries.

The incident occurred at about 9.35 a.m. and police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit at 295-0011.
