A Sandys man arrested in connection with a probe into alleged theft of cash from Butterfield Bank appeared in court yesterday.

Charles Blake Simmons is accused of stealing just over $15,000 from one of the Island?s biggest financial institutions.

He denied all 14 charges put to him yesterday.

The 38-year-old, who was a member of the bank?s ATM team, denied stealing $15,380 between April 3 and May 4, 2006.

He pleaded not guilty to a further eight charges of stealing Butterfield bank debit cards from eight individuals.

The case was adjourned until November 21 for another hearing in Magistrates? Court before a trial date is fixed.

Simmons, of Gatehouse Lane, Sandys, is represented by lawyer Charles Richardson. Simmons was granted $5,000 bail with one surety. He was ordered to surrender his passport.

Senior Crown counsel Paula Tyndale said that ?quite a lot? of witnesses were due to be called in the case.

A Police investigation into reports of missing cash machine funds was launched in May after three men in a cash truck were arrested at Dockyard.
