A 34-year-old man was in critical condition in intensive care last night after a tree fell on him causing serious back injuries.

Two men were sitting talking under a large Poinciana tree in Harlem Heights, Hamilton Parish on Thursday night when they heard a loud crack and the tree came down on them.

One of the men was able to free himself and was uninjured but the 34 year old was pinned under the tree and had difficulty breathing.

Emergency services arrived and stabilised him at the scene before taking him to hospital.
