A 21-year-old Devonshire man was accused in Magistrates' Court this week of importing more than $100,000 worth of cocaine.
Saki Tuzo of Devonshire is charged with importing the drugs and with intent to supply.
During the plea court session Wednesday, the accused drug smuggler told Magistrate Archibald Warner he wanted to be tried in Supreme Court before a jury.
Mr. Warner explained he has the right to make that decision, but could face life imprisonment if convicted.
Mr. Tuzo quickly changed his mind and elected a trial before a Magistrate which carries a far less severe maximum sentence.
