Fourteen-year-old Blake Sonnenfeld is Bermuda's new Youth Tourism Minister.

Blake, a student at Saltus Grammar School, beat eight other finalists to walk away with the coveted title.

As part of the competition the contestants had to prepare and present speeches on Culinary and Entertainment tourism. They also had to explain what they would do as Youth Tourism Minister to get more young people involved in the tourism industry.

Blake said: "I think every one of the finalists took something away from this competition. We improved our writing and public speaking skills and seasoned professionals in the industry gave us their insight into what can be done to improve the local tourism industry."

A well-spoken and confident young man, Blake already has plans to promote tourism to Bermuda's youth.

"I, along with the other finalists hope to establish a Youth Tourism Council. We will meet frequently and discuss the things we can do as youth to improve tourism in Bermuda," he explained.

One of his first tasks as Youth Tourism Minister will be to represent Bermuda at the 6th Annual Youth Tourism Congress in the Bahamas next month.
