Memorial held for Robin Hood bartender

Staff and customers of the Robin Hood Pub and Restaurant gathered last night to remember Anette Farkas, a popular bartender at the pub who was killed in a traffic collisio

Robin Hood staff and friends attended a tear filled commemorative service yesterday afternoon for 24 year old Canadian bartender Anett Farkas who died in a road traffic collision on September 6.

Ms Farkas was killed in a collision on North Street, Pembroke, in which she was a passenger on a motorcycle after living in Bermuda for only two months.

A small gathering of staff and friends attended a short ceremony to celebrate of the life of a popular young woman. Her immediate family were not present as they returned to Canada after a brief visit to the Island.

Rev. Alan Garrity of Christ Church, Warwick, presided over the ceremony in which he recalled how this much loved girl touched the lives of many.

?We are here because we are in a shocking state, we are here to celebrate the life that we wished was still here, to celebrate Anett who was so young and so lively and suddenly she is not with us anymore,? Rev. Garrity said.

Ms Farkas born in Hungary on August 7, 1981, an only child that was close to her mother, step-father and grandparents and who live in Canada.

Before moving to Bermuda she worked as a bartender in Montreal and then for Air Canada at Toronto Airport.

Rev. Garrity said although Ms Farkas visited Bermuda on several occasions, she came to the Island in July to work before her tragic death on September 6.

?She was a young woman of only 24 very close in age of many of you. I never knew her but you obviously did and she obviously touched your lives and that?s why you are here.?

?Do you remember the times you laughed with her, the times you shared your feelings about things with her. Do you remember the times you joked with her and worked with her.?

?People have said to me she had a really happy friendly nature and the staff and customers really enjoyed her, so let?s take these moments to think of all of the times you felt good because she was there.?

?Think of how being with her made your life more positive and you felt better just because you were in her company.

?And now she?s gone and we all feel her loss because we are part of each other and when one of us dies we are all affected by the loss especially when someone is so young young.?
