MP calls for cuts in motocross hours
St. David's MP Suzann Roberts-Holshouser has called for the hours of operation at new Bermuda's Motor Sport Park to be cut to give local residents some peace and quiet.
Mrs. Roberts-Holshouser told Parliament yesterday: "St David's islanders feel that they are the bathwash and that they are totally disrespected, and while we respect the sport, we want a compromise."
Premier Alex Scott and Sports Minister Dale Butler and Tourism Minister will be at the official opening of the park tomorrow which is used for motocross and other motors sports.
Complaining that the facility is open "from dawn until dusk" at the weekends, Mrs. Holshouser said this would cause the destruction of the tranquillity that St. David's is renowned for.
"It is unacceptable that the community should experience the buzz of the bee in their ear each Saturday and Sunday from dawn 'til dusk," she said.
She asked for the hours of operation to be reduced to dawn until 1 p.m. on Saturday and 1pm until 6 p.m or 7 p.m on Sunday.
