New fast ferries to arrive soon

Bermuda?s two newest fast ferries should be arriving on the Island in about three weeks, according to a Press statement from the Department of Communication and Information.

The and left Australia on a container ship late last month for a 32-day journey.

?Having undergone several months of construction in Hobart, Australia, foil catamaransand will be a welcome addition to the current fast ferry fleet, bringing the number up to four,? the DCI statement said.

On arrival Transport Minister Ewart Brown will officially received the ferries on behalf of the Government and preside over a christening ceremony to launch the catamarans into service.

?The two foil catamarans will eventually replace the two aging mono-hull ferries, which now operate on the Somerset and Paget/Warwick route, and join and in servicing members of the commuting public.?
