New inquest date set for `Pepe' Dill
A new date has been set for the jury inquest into the death of late father Stephen (Pepe) Dill.
Mr. Dill is believed to have died of a severe asthma attack while serving a sentence at the Prison Farm just before Christmas, 2001.
The family has been waiting for an inquest into his death for more than a year, but when it was finally scheduled to take place two weeks ago, it had to be cancelled at the last minute because the Coroner was ill.
The jury inquest is to be held at Magistrates' Court on June 4, 5 and 6.
After Mr. Dill's death, his family and friends claimed prison guards at the Prison Farm had helped to cause the death of the father-of-two by failing to call for medical help quickly enough.
Two inquiries were launched into the death, one by the prison and the other by the Police, and after receiving the reports, Minister of Home Affairs Terry Lister said no further action, outside of the inquest, would be taken at this stage.
