No free bus, ferry rides for Police

Despite a deal granting Police the right for free travel on buses and ferries made nearly two years ago officers have yet to benefit.

The two-year package, dating back to October, 2003, is set to run out soon. One source said: ?The public transport means a lot to the guys who live in the West End and could benefit from it.

?Also the public benefits by having Police onboard. This is standard in most other countries and costs the Government nothing. To date no one has had a free bus ride. The contract is up in two months.? Police Association second in command Kevin Christopher said the issue would be addressed shortly and he would not say why the contract was not signed.
